A number of names have already been thrown in the hat as Kaizer Chiefs look to find a replacement for Steve Komphela, including a host of new ones over the past week.
The likes of Nikola Kavazovic, Stuart Baxter, Doctor Khumalo and Luc Eymael have all been reportedly in the running for a while now, but they are not the only ones that could be being lined up as potential successors at Naturena.
Former Chelsea head coach, Avram Grant, is one of the big names who is now believed to be in the running for the post, as is ex-TP Mazembe man, Patrice Carteron. Both have previous experience of working in Africa, although at this point in time are contracted to NorthEast United in India and Phoenix Rising in America respectively.
It is also thought that Mick McCarthy, formerly of Sunderland and the Republic of Ireland, is an option for the Glamour Boys – though he doesn’t fancy moving so far from home – and ex-Bafana Bafana man, Philippe Troussier, has also been thrown into the mix recently.
While Chiefs have clearly not made a decision on who will be tasked with leading the club forward as they seek to bring their current drought to an end, one thing for sure is that they will want to get the situation as sorted as soon as possible so that the new coach can have a running start going into next season’s Absa Premiership.
