Kaizer Chiefs are believed to have shown interest in a Portuguese coach, adding the mentor’s name to a long list of potential candidates for the vacant head coach role.
As reported in this week’s Siya special, Chiefs have made informal enquiries into Head Coach Benni McCarthy’s availability, keen to know what his immediate plans are with Cape Town City.
McCarthy joins a long list of the likes of, Stuart Baxter, Patrice Carteron and Julio Leal, who are currently being linked to the Amakhosi head coach role.

However, according to Siya sources, another name has been bandied about at Naturena. Sources have revealed that José Peseiro, who recently parted ways with Vitoria Guimaraes in Portugal, is currently being linked with the Amakhosi role.
Peseiro was the assistant coach to Carlos Queiroz at Real Madrid in the 2003/04 campaign, this before coaching stints with the likes of Al-Wahda in Abu Dhabi, Egypts’ Al Ahly and Porto.

The 58-year-old is believed to be a free agent and according to sources, has been identified as a potential candidate for the Chiefs head coach role.
At this point, Chiefs are yet to make an official announcement about who will be taking over the helm of the bench, although the football fraternity can expect a decision to be made before the team reports back to pre-season next month.
