Club Legend In Running For SuperSport Post
Kaitano Tembo Could Be In The Running For The SuperSport United Job
Kaitano Tembo is a club legend at SuperSport United having played and coached there for a number of years, and next season could finally be the time that he’s given the chance to shine as head coach.
The 47-year-old Zimbabwean lost just one Absa Premiership match from the seven he took charge of following the resignation of Eric Tinkler, guiding Matsatsantsa to safety and – with the help of some Ajax Cape Town’s Ndoro case – eventually led them to an unlikely seventh-place finish.
Tembo worked closely with Stuart Baxter prior to Tinkler’s arrival in Tshwane, and it appears that he was able to get a bit more out of the players going into the final few games when they appeared to be on the ropes.
According to Siya sources, Tembo is definitely still in the running for the vacant position at SuperSport as the club’s management assess their options, and the recent success of Fadlu Davids at Maritzburg United could potentially help his cause.
Tembo has been with the team for nearly two decades as a player and coach, and his ability to understand the players and the club may be something that tempts management into taking a chance on him.
Numerous other coaches, including Davids before he signed a new contract, had been linked with a move to Tshwane, although there has been no decision made by the club as things stand.
