Khune Back Training, Chiefs Star Doubtful For Arrows
Itumeleng Khune was back in training for Kaizer Chiefs yesterday, however, another one of their key players was forced to sit it out.
Khune has missed the Amakhosi’s last two games after sustaining a hip injury against SuperSport United in the Nedbank Cup, with his side failing to win either of their games since he’s been absent.
Young Bruce Bvuma has stepped into the shot-stopper’s shoes against Cape Town City and SuperSport in the league, conceded five goals as his side lost 3-2 and drew 2-2 respectively.
It remains to be seen whether Khune will be deemed fit enough to return to the starting XI on Saturday, however, Steve Komphela was given a boost as he returned to full training on Tuesday in the build-up to the game.
Meanwhile, Siphiwe Tshabalala is currently a doubt for the game due to an injury that he picked up, with ‘Shabba’ sitting out yesterday’s session as he looks to try and recover in time.
The midfielder has been key for Chiefs so far this season and celebrated his 300th appearance for the club with his first brace since May 2011. He’s missed only three league games in this campaign.
Komphela will be hoping that both Khune and ‘Shabba’ make full recoveries in the coming days, with a decision on their fitness only likely to be made closer to the end of the week.
