As reported by the Siya crew earlier this year, Orlando Pirates will most likely recall one of their on-loan players from Baroka FC at the end of the current campaign.
Gift Motupa has enjoyed a stellar season at Baroka where he currently sits on nine league goals emulating the 2013/14 season where he bagged 10 goals in 28 appearances attracting Pirates to sign him.
However, in his two-season stay at the Buccaneers, the attacker failed to replicate the same form he showed for the Limpopo outfit scoring only goals in two season prompting the Soweto giants to send back to Bakgaga.
With the current season reaching its end Siya sources have indicated that the talented attacker could be heading back to Parktown. However, with Pirates having made key signings in their attacking roster it’s difficult to see where Motupa will fit in the new attacking line-up.
While Motupa was at the Limpopo outfit, Pirates signed the likes of Zambian duo, strikers Justin Shonga and Augustine Mulenga to bolster their attack.
Furthermore, Bucs coach Milutin Sredojević’s system of play has resulted in key attacking players such as Luvuyo Memela, Thabiso Kutumela and Thembinkosi Lorch as well as Musa Nytama all contributing with vital goals to help Pirates to a second spot on the PSL table where they are challenging Mamelodi Sundowns for league honours.
Currently, the Buccaneers attacking force consisting of attackers including; Lorch, Memela, Kutumela, Shonga, Nyatama and Thamsanqa Gabuza have scored a combined 20 league goals.
Though Motupa has the versatility to play out wide on either flank or upfront the 23-year-old may have to deal with the prospect of fighting for a starting berth with the likes of Bernard Morrison and Gabuza also suffering from a lack of game time as result of an in-form, star-studded Bucs attack.
