Bucs And Stars Interest In Polokwane Striker
Interest Pours In For Polokwane City Forward
Orlando Pirates and Free State Stars are linked with a player from Polokwane City.
Pirates are known to have been the admirers of Polokwane’s Thobani Mncwango for some time. It is believed that the club is keen on adding the player to Milutin Sredojevic’s squad, despite him no longer receiving game-time at Polokwane.
According to sources, Bucs joined Ea Lla Koto in expressing interest in the forward.
“Free State Stars is interested in Thobani Mncwango. They feel that they could use him in their team,” said the source.
Mncwango is out of favour at Polokwane as he is constantly left out of the squad for official matches.
Two seasons ago, Mncwango emerged as one of the best players in the PSL for the goalscoring prowess he showed.
He scored 13 goals and narrowly missed out on taking the league’s Golden Boot for the 2015/16 season.
As a result, the former Baroka FC player has had clubs enquiring about his availability. However, Rise and Shine have been reluctant to part ways with the Nongoma-born player.
Mncwango’s contract with Polokwane is set to expire in June 2018. As reported in edition 1053 of Soccer Laduma, Pirates and Stars have been joined by Ajax Cape Town in pursuit of the player’s signature, according to sources.
