Experienced former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder, Hlompho Kekana, is unlikely to move to KwaZulu-Natal in his next deal despite being linked with one of the clubs in the province this week.
Reports in local media have suggested that Kekana has attracted interest from Royal AM who are of the clubs expected to make adjustments to their squads in preparation for the second round of the season.
However, according to sources close to the KZN outfit, there have been no plans up to this stage to lure the 36-year-old former CAF Champions League and Super Cup winner to the club.
“At Royal AM, we don’t know anything about Hlompho Kekana joining the club. There are a lot of issues that are being discussed at the moment but that one is new information to the club,” said the source.
Kekana has been a free agent since it was announced by Sundowns in November that he and the club reached an agreement to amicably part ways, following his 10 years of loyal service which saw him win six league titles with the Chloorkop outfit.
Despite approaching his 37th birthday which will be in May, the Zebediela-born player reiterated that he believes he has at least two more seasons left in him before retiring from professional football.
