With Hendrick ‘Pule’ Ekstein and Thabo ‘Section 10’ Qalinge back at AmaZulu, it has been unclear as to why as both players were released by the club at the end of the previous season.
Ekstein and Qalinge were released in June as the Durban-based club underwent a major clear-out of no less than 15 players.

However, the two players have been back at the club, though training with the reserve side, while sources have since indicated that there are still some outstanding issues relating to their respective contracts.

“Qalinge and Ekstein are training with the reserves as both players and the club couldn’t reach a settlement agreement. So, their original contracts are still running,” said the source.
As reported by the Siya crew, AmaZulu have begun talks with experienced former Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele about possibly adding the veteran to coach Brandon Truter’s squad for the new season.
