With the Siya crew reporting that Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila midfielder Miguel Timm has attracted the interest of some of Gauteng’s biggest teams, a top PSL coach has weighed in on what the midfielder has to offer.
As reported by the crew in edition 1220 of Soccer Laduma, Timm, 29, is on the radar of some of Gauteng’s biggest clubs following his bright performances for TTM this campaign.
The midfielder, who has featured in 17 matches for Tshakhuma this season, including Sunday’s Nedbank Cup semifinal win over Mamelodi Sundowns, has been an ever-present in Vhadau Vhadamani’s side this season.
Speaking to the Siya crew, renowned youth coach and former Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Farouk Khan has revealed what value Timm could add if he is to join one of the Gauteng giants.
“The first thing is his playing intelligence. You know often you find players that can play bit they play with their feet and not with their brains and today the game has evolved to a level where, yes, your talent is important but your ability to read any situation in the game is of utmost importance. Because of the lack of space and time, players have to make decisions within microseconds and Miguel is that type of player because he sees things even before it happens. (That) excites me as a coach when I look at him, because he’s able to make those decisions within split seconds when he makes those passes,” Khan told the Siya crew.
“If you look at a player that can play those defence-splitting passes, there’s quite a few in world football but to name a few it is your Xavi and Iniesta players. This is similar to Miguel when it comes to playing intelligence, but I am not comparing him to these players. So not only does he have playing intelligence, but he also has vision and technical ability. His passing, short, even long-range passing ability is also something that he has. While he is not the quickest player, but because of his intelligence and social awareness he makes decisions in a short period, so you don’t need to be that quick if you are quick in decision making.”
