Following his appointment as Chippa United coach last week, the Siya crew understands that Gavin Hunt may have already identified his assistant.
The 57-year-old has secured a return to the dugout less than two months after he parted ways with Kaizer Chiefs, albeit accepting a job many would never have seen coming.
Indications are that Ian Taylor’s name has come up as a possible member of the Chippa technical team and is poised to work with Hunt for the first time.
Siya sources at the club have suggested that talks are ongoing for Taylor, whose last job was as head coach of Cape Town Spurs in the GladAfrica Championship, to move to the Gqeberha-based outfit prior to the start of the season.
According Chippa chairman Siviwe ‘Chippa’ Mpengesi last week, Hunt has been given carte blanche at the club and as a result he has brough in Roy Limongelli as technical director and now Taylor, 44, could be next.
Taylor has also had a brief stint at Cape Town City as well as Guangzhou City in the Chinese Super League as head of development there.
Limongelli had previously worked with Hunt at the now-defunct Bidvest Wits and it would not be surprised if the duo revive the good old days at Sturrock Park, in Gqeberha.
