Mulenga’s Pirates Price Tag Revealed

Orlando Pirates fans haven’t caught a glimpse of Augustine Mulenga in action yet, although the attacker comes with a big reputation – and a substantial price tag it seems.
The reigning Zambian Player of the Year is expected to make his debut for the Buccaneers shortly following his switch from Zanaco last month, with his head coach, Milutin Sredojevic, already hyping up the winger.
While the length of his contract – he’s signed a three-year deal with Pirates – was confirmed by the club, there was no confirmation as to how much it took to persuade Zanaco to part with their star man.
As reported in this week’s issue of Soccer Laduma, the Siya crew did some digging and has been informed by sources in Zambia that Pirates opened their chequebook to an amount of about $350,000, paying out a figure of around R4,000,000 in order to stave off interest from the likes of Wydad Casablanca, Zamalek and Al Ahly.
The Ghost will now be waiting with anticipation to see Mulenga in action in the Absa Premiership and hoping that he can emulate the form that he showed recently while impressing at the African Nations Championship this year.
