Dylan Kerr and Baroka FC have gone their separate ways – a development that’s not come as a surprise after the coach was suspended for “insubordination and bringing the club into disrepute” earlier last month.
This was prior to the start of the current 2020/21 season.
Kerr took the Baroka job in December last year, usually the half way mark of the season, and was given a three-year contract as confirmed by the club.
The English-born coach helped Bakgaga avoid relegation on the final day of the season after guiding them to an all-important 1-1 draw against Kaizer Chiefs, who lost out on the championship to Mamelodi Sundowns as a result.
His assistants Matsimela Thoka and goalkeeper coach Thomas ‘Spaghetti’ Nare took over in the interim and have been lauded by the club for their unbeaten run in the opening three matches of the DStv Premiership campaign.
Baroka CEO Richard Mashabane had told the Siya crew in October that Kerr was found to have made unprofessional remarks about Thoka, who has now been appointed permanently until the end of the season.

Mashabane told the Siya crew: “We can confirm parting ways with coach Dylan Kerr and appointing Matsimela Thoka until the end of the season. But we cannot discuss the outcome of the internal hearing with coach Kerr publicly.”
