Soccer Laduma reported that the 31-year-old's name could likely be on the list of players set to exit the club in January. Sources have now indicated that Arrows, who have been long-time admirers of the shot-stopper could look at landing the signature of the former Bafana Bafana international.
“Siya is at a stage where he wants to play regular football. He is a senior player and the prospect of playing in his home province would sweeten the deal, but I we can confirm is that the player really wants to play regularly,” said the source.
Mpontshane has struggled to establish himself as a regular at Pirates since making his much-anticipated move to the Soweto Giants from Platinum Stars in 2014.
Meanwhile, Arrows have had their eye on the goalkeeper and were set to be frontrunners to secure his services when there were suggestions that he would leave the Parktown-based club following the arrival of Felipe Ovono in the in 2015.
It is believed that Mpontshane is keen on establishing himself as regular first choice goalkeeper and will look for a club where he will play regularly, should he leave the Buccaneers.
