Arrows Mpontshane Interest Heats Up?

Golden Arrows intensify interest in Mpontshane?

By Mkhize - Dec 30, 2017 10:57 AM

The Siya crew understands that the interest by Golden Arrows for Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Siyabonga Mpontshane is heating up as the KwaZulu-Natal club seem more determined to bring the shot stopper on board.

It was revealed by the Siya crew in recent times that the 31-year-old could consider a move away from the club in search of more game time after falling down the pecking order behind Wayne Sandilands and Jackson Mabokgwane. However, a potential move would depend heavily on the player reaching personal terms.

A source explained that Bucs coach, Milutin Sredojevic, would also be key in seeing the player move on. The decision will lie with the coach.

“There have been discussions regarding Siyabonga Mpontshane however, the ultimate deciding factor is whether the technical team led by coach Milutin Sredojevic decides if they can release the player or not,” said the source.

“Currently there are three main keepers at Pirates and Siybaonga is one of them. With injuries and suspensions anything can happen and you would need depth in the team including the goalkeeping department,” added the source.

During his time at Platinum Stars where he was the first choice shot-stopper, the KZN born Mpontshane earned himself a spot in the Bafana Bafana set-up, however he has since lost that spot too.
