Chiefs’ New Head Coach Gets His Hands Dirty
He may not have gotten his work permit to sit on the bench just yet, but Giovanni Solinas has already started work at Kaizer Chiefs ahead of the new season.
Chiefs take on Mamelodi Sundowns tomorrow in the Shell Helix Ultra Cup at FNB Stadium, and as things stand it seems unlikely that the Italian will be able to take his seat on the bench against his opposite number, Pitso Mosimane.
Despite that though, the Siya crew have been informed that the 50-year-old has already started getting his hands dirty, and has begun taking sessions with the Amakhosi players as he looks to get them ready for the 2018/19 season.
Patrick Mabedi, who is set to remain as assistant coach, will take his place on the bench this weekend if Solinas’ work permit doesn’t come through in time, however, it is thought that he will be ready to sit on the bench come the start of the 2018/19 season next month.
Meanwhile, there has been a new face at the club this week following the arrival of Ayabulela Konqobe, although it is unknown at this point whether he will be signed or not.
