Sundowns Stopper Secures Masandawana Extension
Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper, Gershin Kock, has secured a one-year contract extensions at the club following his performances in the Multichoice Diski Challenge.
Kock, formerly of Vasco da Gama and Milano, joined Masandawana last year from Atlantic Nacional, though spent the bulk of his time in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge. This season, however, he was taken on camp with the first team in Rustenburg as they prepared for the upcoming campaign.
Rui Alves, the player’s agent, confirmed that the Brazilians have exercised their one-year option on the shot-stopper ahead of the 2018/19 season.
Speaking in this week’s issue of Soccer Laduma, Alves said, “He’s one of the best young goalkeepers around, and we feel like he will do well at a top club like Sundowns. We’d like to thank them for the opportunity they’ve presented him with.”
It remains to be seen whether Kock will be able to displace Pitso Mosimane’s first choice goalkeepers in the first team, though he will surely be eager to try.
Denis Onyango, Razak Brimah, Kennedy Mweene and Thela Ngobeni are the other shot-stoppers on the club’s books.
