George Lebese’s stay at Mamelodi Sundowns does not seem to be turning into the expected fairytale, with sources indicating that the player’s future is currently up in the air.
Lebese is yet to make his mark at Chloorkop, since arriving at the club from Kaizer Chiefs in the July/August transfer window last year, although it seems that with the calibre of competition at the club, it could be time for the 29-year-old to possibly seek game-time elsewhere.
Lebese, who will turn 30-years-old in February next year, has made just 15 appearances in all competitions for Sundowns since joining the club, with the midfielder yet to feature for the Brazilians this season.
Siya sources have indicated to the crew that there is a possibility that Lebese could be sent out on loan in the January transfer window, should the player’s situation regarding game-time at Sundowns, remain unchanged.
Sundowns are currently spoilt for choice in both their midfield department and on the wings, with Lebese low down the pecking order.
However, with Masandawana known to maintain the depth in their squad, especially for their challenge in the upcoming CAF Champions League campaign, it remains to be seen whether Lebese’s future will be considered when making changes in the upcoming January transfer window.
