Cape Town City head coach, Eric Tinkler, is currently linked as the frontrunner for the SuperSport United coaching role according to sources close to the proposed deal. Soccer Laduma takes a look at four coaches who could potentially replace the 46-year-old if he leaves the Mother City-based club.
As reported by the Siya crew earlier today, it is believed that management at the club want the 46-year-old to take over the head coach role at the Tshwane giants, after Stuart Baxter concludes his final game at the helm of Matsatsantsa later this month.
If Tinkler opts to join up with the Tshwane giants, City will have to act quickly to find his replacement before the new 2017/18 season gets underway.
As it stands, there are possibly four coaches who could be available for the coaching role with the Mother City-based club, should Tinkler leave chairman, John Comitis’ outfit.
Cavin Johnson – Platinum Stars confirmed yesterday that the club parted ways with Johnson after opting against renewing his contract for the 2017/18 season. The 58-year-old mentor is currently a free agent.
Muhsin Ertugral – The Turkish-born head coach is still currently a free agent after parting ways with Orlando Pirates last year. Ertugral has previously worked under Comitis at Ajax Cape Town.
Roger de Sa – The Mozambican is currently a free agent after stepping down from the helm at Maritzburg United in March this year.
Luc Eymael – The Belgian-born head coach was recently involved in a legal battle with Polokwane City which saw the mentor subsequently return to the club following his failed move to Bloemfontein Celtic and according to sources, Eymael has a buyout clause of R2.2 million. However, should Polokwane let Eymael leave the club, it remains to be seen whether the coach will return to Celtic.
