Shabalala parted ways with Maritzburg in August, as reported by the Siya crew. The 30-year-old has penned a deal with Mbombela United in the National First Division.

“Themba Shabalala has joined Mbombela United. He has signed a one-year deal with the club,” said the source.

Contacted for comment, Mbombela’s co-chairman Oupa Matsebula confirmed the signing of the Tembisa-born player by the club.

“We have signed him. With his signing we are more like putting a concrete wall at the back to prevent conceding goals,” said Matsebula.

Shabalala has previously also played for Free State Stars and Jomo Cosmos during his professional career.
