Matombo is reviving his career in Malta, following his struggles in finding a club in South Africa.

“Chris put a stunning performance to bolster the team’s success. From day one, he settled well in the Maltese team and controlled the midfield as his own, and has created so many goals with his teammates capitalising on his perfectly timed defence-splitting passes to score,” a source told the Siya crew.

“Furthermore, the player’s dedication during this 2017/18 campaign was rewarded with Man of the Match awards. He also has four goals to his name. During April, Chris was part of the three players from Qormi FC tasked with conducting coaching clinics for aspirant young footballers,” added the source.

“Chris Matombo – with the aim of reviving his career – joined Qormi FC after impressing them (in training during trials). For the whole season, he has been part of the starting XI. Although there might be PSL teams interested, with his experience playing for the SA U23 national team, Chiefs and Chippa, for now, he is more focused on his international career achievements,” concluded the source.

The Siya crew has learnt from player’s representatives from LSG Sports Management that Matombo is attracting interest from a number of overseas teams that have been impressed with his progress in Malta, while Qormi are keen on retaining the player’s services for a long-term stay.
