A former Kaizer Chiefs defender has surfaced at a top-flight clubs in Mzansi as he looks to secure his next deal after Amakhosi exit.
Chiefs confirmed in August that Mario Booysen, who had been with the club since last year after joining from Ajax Cape Town, had his contract with the Soweto giants terminated by mutual consent.
The 31-year-old has surfaced at AmaZulu with a view to sign a contract, as the team’s newly appointed coach Jozef Vukusic is looking at strengthening the defence for the Durban-based club, as part of his plan to improve the club’s results and position on the Absa Premiership log.
The Cape Town-born centre-back is one of the experienced defenders in the league, having also turned out for some of the top teams in the country, including Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United, among others.
“Mario Booysen is at AmaZulu. He arrived at the club yesterday (Wednesday) and is set to train with the team today,” confirmed the source.
On Tuesday, Usuthu earned their first win of the season with their 2-1 victory over Cape Town City at the Princess Magogo Stadium.
