A former Chippa United player is linked with a return to the club, as the Port Elizabeth outfit has been making changes to the technical team in the last few days.
With the appointment of Joel Masutha as the team’s interim coach confirmed by the club, after the departure of Eric Tinkler and the subsequent exit of Vincent Kobola, the Siya crew has learnt that Tshepo Motsoeneng is earmarked for a technical team role at Chippa.
According to sources, the former goalkeeper is targeted for an assistant coaching role in Masutha’s technical team at the Chilli Boys.
Since he stopped playing in 2015 and started a career in coaching, Motsoeneng has grown in leaps and bounds in his new career in recent months.
The 39-year-old came close to helping Eastern Cape side Tornado FC to promotion to the NFD after he helped them qualify for the ABC Motsepe League promotional play-offs in Limpopo earlier this year.
“Tornado FC coach Tshepo Motsoeneng is likely to be appointed as Chippa United’s assistant coach,” confirmed the source.
The Chilli Boys are left with matches against Cape Town City in the Mother City next Tuesday, Polokwane City at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Friday next week, as well as against Bidvest Wits at the Bidvest Stadium on December 21, before completing their schedule for the year.
