The defender, who made it to the Bafana Bafana squad as an 18-year-old in 2014 under then head coach of the senior national team Ephraim ‘Shakes’ Mashaba, parted ways with Chippa United at the end of last season.
The 22-year-old had been in Port Elizabeth on the Chilli Boys’ books for only one season, since joining the club from AmaZulu.

“Ayabulela Konqobe is still without a club. He’s been in Pretoria and it seems like he’s having his sights on other things as well, including (a potential career in) music as he has been singing with some of his friends,” a source told the Siya crew.
Ajax Cape Town is where it all started for Konqobe in professional football as he came through the ranks at Ikamva from the club’s junior teams while his surname was still known as Magqwaka.
