Lartley Signs For Club Africain
Former Ajax Cape Town Player Lawrence Lartley Signs For Club Africain
Lawrence Lartey, who was released from Ajax Cape Town at the end of last season, has joined Tunisian giants, Club Africain.
The 23-year-old Ghanaian defender, previously on the books of Ashanti Gold, signed a three-year contract.
This news was confirmed to Soccer Laduma by a reliable source.
“Lawrence signed a straight three-year deal with no options,” he said. “Last week, he was in Tunisia for his medical. I’m very happy for the boy. He’s still young and will get a chance in (the) CAF Champions League.
“Ajax had an option to renew his contract up to 30 April but when the club started pre-season in May, it was too late. I’m not sure what happened. Anyway, it’s better for Lartey to move from the PSL because Club Africain is huge in North Africa.”
The tough-tackling man, who once captained the Ghanaian U20 team arrived at the Urban Warriors two years ago amid much fanfare with the club actually admitting that they’d tried to lure him from 2013.
“Let me tell you Ajax lost somebody very big,” concluded the source.
