News reaching the Siya crew is that Chippa United have become the latest club to have a transfer ban imposed on them by FIFA in relation to their alleged failure to pay money owed to the club’s former player Augustine Kwem.

The Nigerian striker left the Chilli Boys last year to join TS Galaxy after making notable progress with the Gqeberha outfit.

The 24-year-old forward had been with the Eastern Cape outfit since 2019 and had a three-year contract extension offered to him the following year after scoring eight goals in all competitions for the team in his first season with the club, before being sold to Galaxy.

The Siya crew has seen a document from FIFA to the South African Football Association and Chippa confirming the ban due to outstanding payments.

The document reads:

“We refer to the abovementioned matter and acknowledge receipt of the attached correspondence for the parties’ perusal.

“We take due note that in its correspondence the Creditor informs us that the respondent, the Club Chippa United FC, has not complied with its financial obligations in accordance with the decision of FIFA.

“In this regard, we wish to inform the parties that a ban from registering new players internationally has been implemented by FIFA as of today.

“Moreover, and in accordance with the aforementioned decision, respondent´s member association is requested to immediately implement on the respondent the Club Chippa United FC, a ban from registering new players at national level.”

The Siya crew tried to contact the club, but attempts proved futile.
