Maritzburg United have settled the issue surrounding Fadlu Davids’ future by handing the club legend a new long-term deal with the Team of Choice.
Davids, who will still be feeling the disappointment of their Nedbank Cup final defeat over the weekend, has had an impressive first year as head coach of Maritzburg, setting a new club record for points and league position as well as securing a nomination for the Coach of the Season.
With numerous clubs in the Absa Premiership – including SuperSport United – on the lookout for a new head coach prior to the start of the 2018/19 season, there had been talk of a potential exit for the 37-year-old, but that doesn’t appear to be the case.
It has now been confirmed that Davids has put pen to paper on a new two-year contract with Maritzburg following their best ever season in the top-flight, committing his immediate future to the Pietermaritzburg-based outfit.
The Siya crew has also been informed that Davids, and his assistant, Maahier, have jetted out to Amsterdam for their UEFA A Licence course, with the coachign duo expected back on June 20th.
Meanwhile, however, he has been dealt a bit of a blow with regards to his backline following the news that Bevan Fransman would not be signing a new deal, with the veteran defender now on the hunt for a new club.
