Stars Target ‘Proper Number 9’ After Wits Exit
Free State Stars are believed to be one of the clubs interested in trying to land former Bidvest Wits striker, Eleazar Rodgers, following his exit from The Clever Boys.
The Siya crew recently reported that the 33-year-old forward was expected to leave at the end of his current contract, and Siya sources have revealed that it has now been confirmed that he will no longer be a Clever Boy come July 1st.
With that in mind, it is believed that Stars – who won the Nedbank Cup last month – are considering making a move for the tall striker, seeing him as a player that can help add to their firepower for the new season.
A source told the crew, “There’s talk around Free State Stars with Rodgers because he’s one of the few proper number 9s around in the PSL at the moment, but nothing has been finalised anywhere yet.”
Ea Lla Koto are one of a few clubs thought to be monitoring Rodgers’ situation, and the player himself will be eager to try and finalise a deal as soon as possible so as to get a healthy pre-season with the club he ends up at.
