Former Bucs Coach To Solve Chiefs’ Problems?
Could Julio Leal Come And Help Fix Kaizer Chiefs?
Could a former Orlando Pirates head coach be the answer to Kaizer Chiefs’ coaching problems? Well a Brazilian has been offered to the Amakhosi as they search for Steve Komphela’s replacement.
Julio Leal hasn’t worked in South Africa since leaving Polokwane City in 2016, but – as reported in this week’s issue of Soccer Laduma – the 67-year-old is believed to have been offered to Chiefs’ management as a solution to fill the void left by Steve Komphela.
Leal has previously worked at Moroka Swallows and AmaZulu, as well as Polokwane and Pirates. In context, he does have experience of plying his trade in the Absa Premiership and knows the lay of the land.
The 67-year-old joins the list of potential candidates alongside Doctor Khumalo (who could also return to Naturena as a Technical Director), as well Luc Eymael and Nikola Kavazović, all of whom have been touted as Komphela’s successors.
Chiefs have gone three seasons without a trophy, for the first time in their history, and have promised a squad overhaul prior to the start of the 2018/19 campaign as they look to get back to winning ways.
Meanwhile, the crew has also been informed that Chiefs are looking into the possibility of tempting Patrice Carteron away from his position as head coach of Phoenix Rising in America.
Do you think Leal would be a good appointment for Chiefs?
