Chippa United’s Thamsanqa Sangweni could be headed for overseas trials and a possible move if all goes well for the midfielder and the planning for his future for next season.
It was reported by the Siya crew in issue number 1019 of Soccer Laduma that Chippa could be open to listening to offers for Sangweni, despite him having recently signed a new deal with the club.
In recent seasons, Sangweni has been linked with Soweto giants, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. However, Chippa has been reluctant to release the player as he has been instrumental in the team’s plans.
A source close to the Chilli Boys has confirmed to the Siya crew that the Port Elizabeth club could be open to allowing the player to leave for overseas, should an opportunity for a move arise.
“There could be a possibility for an overseas deal for Thami. There has been communication between the player’s handlers and clubs from overseas. There has been communication with different clubs from a couple of overseas countries, including Denmark, Greece, Sweden and Scotland. He should go for trials if all goes according to plan. But there isn’t anything concrete at the moment,” said the source.
In December last year, Chippa tied down Sangweni on a new three-year deal. The Eastern Cape outfit would cash in on the Dondotha-born former Mamelodi Sundowns player if he is to leave for another club.
