Chippa United are still keen on further strengthening their squad to add to a number new signings already made by the club.
The Port Elizabeth outfit is closing in on midfielder Tebogo ‘Messi’ Tlolane from Jomo Cosmos. The 23-year-old, whom according Cosmos attended trials with Barcelona FC in Spain last year, has been lined up as a potential signing for Chippa.
“This is indeed an overwhelming opportunity for me. I am so excited I cannot find the right words to describe my feelings. This is going to be my first trip outside South Africa, and I am going there with the mentality of a novice because I believe I still have a lot to learn in the game. It feels so awesome to be given such a rare opportunity to go learn from the best and rub shoulders with my idol Lionel Messi whom I consider to be the greatest footballer of our generation,” said the player in May last year before the said trip to Spain.
The Eastern Cape side is believed to be on the verge of concluding the deal with the player, with the parties said to be dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s at this stage.
As reported by the Siya crew, the Chilli Boys have already concluded a deal for Cosmos defender Thapelo Tlabakwe, who is seen as a replacement for Paseka Mako, following the left-back’s move to Orlando Pirates.
The likes of Cosmos’ Tebogo Makobela, Thabo Nthethe from Mamelodi Sundowns, Boikanyo Komane (Royal Eagles), Ntshuxeko Ndlovu and Lucky Setelele (Cape Town All Stars), as well as the Botswana duo of Thatoyaone Kgamanyane and Kabelo Seakanyeng (Gaborone United), are some of the new players for Chippa.
