Thabo Rakhale could be set to land an overseas move in this transfer window, with sources indicating that the winger has done enough to impress a club in Turkey with his performances.
As reported in edition 1083 of Soccer Laduma, Rakhale has been impressive during his trial at Turkish club Istanbulspor.
Having quietly left South Africa last week, the 28-year-old has been undergoing a trial with Istanbulspor and on Thursday last week, the former Orlando Pirates crowd-puller helped the Turkish side beat Adanaspor 2-0.
Jomo, as Rakhale is known in football circles, played the full 90 minutes in that match much to the delight of the Turkish club’s technical team.
Rakhale has been heavily linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs following his successful stint with Chippa, whom he joined in January from the Buccaneers for the second half of the 2017/18 season.
However, the player is unlikely to make the move to Chiefs, with indications that Chippa are wanting to sell him abroad instead.
“Thabo Rakhale is doing well in Turkey. He’s on trial for now and nothing has been finalised. Chippa played a friendly match against Bidvest Wits last Friday at Sturrock Park and Rakhale was not there. He’s contracted to Chippa and a deal will have to go through the club if the Turkish club wants to sign him. Otherwise, he will have to continue at the club as he is in coach Dan Malesela’s plans,” said the source.
Chippa recently sold Gift Motupa, who was yet to play for them after joining from Pirates, and now the Port Elizabeth club is believed to be keen on cashing in on another player before the start of the new season, should an opportunity arise.
