Discussions are ongoing about the future of a Chippa United striker who is nearing the end of his contract with the club.
Having joined Chippa on a three-year deal in 2015, Lerato Manzini will be in the last year of his contract with the Chilli Boys, as the new season begins next month.
The Siya crew has been informed that discussions about a new deal have been initiated between the Port Elizabeth club and the player’s camp.
“Discussions are ongoing about the renewal of Lerato Manzini’s contract with Chippa United,” confirmed the source.
Highlands Park is believed to be one of the clubs monitoring the striker’s situation at the Eastern Cape club with interest.
“There is interest in the player from Highlands Park. The club is aware of the player’s situation, and could decide to wait for January to possibly negotiate for a pre-contract,” concluded the source.
At the end of last season, Chippa confirmed parting ways with Buyani Sali after club management could not agree on a new deal with the midfielder.
The club is keen on holding on to Manzini to keep a strong team for coach Dan Malesela. Last week Chippa unveiled 15 new signings in Thabo Nthethe, Daine Klate, Jabulani Shongwe, Ruzaigh Gamildien, Nathan Gertse, Tebogo Makobela, Tebogo Tlolane, Boikanyo Komane, Thatayaone Kgamanyane, Kabelo Seakanyeng, Ntshuxeko Ndlovu, Ntwenhle Zondo, Lucky Setelele, Ludwe Mpakumpaku and Thapelo Tlabakwe.
