Chiefs Deal Imminent For Defender As Chippa Confirm His Exit?
Chippa United Confirm Exit Of Defender Linked With Kaizer Chiefs
Chippa United have confirmed the exit of Ayabulela Konqobe from the club, with the defender strongly linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs in this transfer window.
The Siya crew broke the news this week that Konqobe has been spotted at Chiefs, with indications that the Soweto giants could look to sign him for coach Giovanni Solinas’ side.
The Chilli Boys have since confirmed the former South African youth international’s exit from the club. As reported on Thursday on the Soccer Laduma website, the 22-year-old, who had been linked to both Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates in the past, could become the first signing under Chiefs’ new coach.
“Where did you get the information from? I saw your article about the boy being linked to Chiefs and I kept asking myself where you guys might have got the information from because we were all told not to say anything. I won’t say anything until there’s confirmation from the club,” said the source.
From their side, Chippa have announced signing Thabo Matlaba, Thamsanqa Sangweni and Bernard Morrison from Orlando Pirates as the club is continuing strengthening the squad for the 2018/19 season.
In confirming the signing of three players from Pirates, the Port Elizabeth-based outfit announced that the new signings are replacing Konqobe, Sizwe Mdlinzo and Lucky Setelele from Dan Malesela’s squad.
“The three players have been brought in not only to fill the gaps left by the departure of Konqobe, Mdlinzo and Setelele earlier in the week but to also bolster the squad and bring in more experienced players,” tweeted Chippa.
