Chief Nonkonyana Presidential Campaign In Jeopardy
Chief Mwelo Nonkonyana In Danger Of Not Being Included In SAFA Presidential Nominee List
With just a week remaining until the South African Football Association closes the list of presidential nominees, reliable sources have informed the Siya crew that SAFA presidential hopeful, Chief Mwelo Nonkonyana could likely not have his name on the SAFA presidential campaign list.
The crew has reported that SAFA will shut the door on all the nominees of the presidential candidates who are in line to be part of the election forum scheduled for 24 March 2018. Now according to the latest Siya sources, Chief Nonkonyana’s name may not be included in that list.
“Chief Nonkonyana's campaign to be voted for the SAFA presidency has been eligible from the day he started,” said the source. "He knew what the SAFA statutes are and those who have opted to be part of his campaign also know the SAFA statutes.
“Furthermore, since there is a pending hearing between Nonkonyana and SAFA, he (Nonkonyana) cannot assume any executive role within an organisation that he has taken to court,” added the source.
Meanwhile, the crew earlier spoke to Chief Nonkonyana campaign manager, Sisa Majola, who stated that the postponement of the hearing of his unfair dismissal case was what he observed as dirty tricks in an effort to delay the progress of the chief's campaign.
“People just want to know what the outcome his. The issue has dragged for far too long and I believe South Africans deserve to know and put this matter to bed,” stated Majola.
Nonkonyana’s camp has been vocal during this time, stating that the Chief will back Tokyo Sexwale if his own campaign fails. This, as the former politician turned businessman is also vying for SAFA’s top seat.
