Following a mass exodus at Orlando Pirates recently, one of the players let go by the Buccaneers is said to be close to finding a new club.
Jackson Mabokgwane did not have his contract renewed when it expired at the end of last month having spent three years battling it out to be the club’s No.1 goalkeeper during that period.
The Siya crew has learnt that after his Pirates exit, the goal minder has been approached by Bloemfontein Celtic and Baroka FC, though the former are understood to be favourites to land his signature.
With Mabokgwane a free agent, he can join either of the two teams immediately and hit the ground running. He’s been posting videos of himself keeping fit and active at his local gym as he prepares for life after Pirates, where he fought to be first choice alongside Wayne Sandilands, Siyabonga Mpontshane and Brilliant Khuzwayo.
Shortly after Mabokgwane’s exit was confirmed by Pirates, the club then announced the arrival of French goalkeeper Joris Delle.
But it now looks as though Mabokgwane will bounce back at Celtic just in time for their opening Absa Premiership clash next week against – coincidentally – Pirates.
