City’s Shopping List: Chiefs And Pirates Goalkeeper Still Priority?
Cape Town City's Wish List: Is A Kaizer Chiefs Goalkeeper Still Top Of The List?
Cape Town City are believed to have been assessing a number of possible recruits for the upcoming July/August transfer window, with a new goalkeeper set to be top of their list.
As reported in the past months by the Siya crew, Head Coach Benni McCarthy has identified Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper, Brilliant Khuzwayo and Chippa United’s on-loan goalkeeper from Orlando Pirates, Brighton Mhlongo, as replacements for the outgoing Shuaib Walters.
However, there are a number other players in the Premier Soccer League that have been recently linked with a move to the Cape Town-based club.
Khuzwayo and Mhlongo:
Khuzwayo will be a free agent on June 30 and should he not extend his stay with Amakhosi, Siya sources have indicated that the Citizens could once again approach the player’s camp for his services.
On the other hand, Mhlongo will make his return to Pirates at the end of the current season and it is believed that City may look to reopen negotiations for the player’s services.
The Bafana Bafana international was heavily linked with a move to the Citizens in the January transfer window, however, the deal did not materialise. Although sources revealed that City could once again look to bring the player on board in the July/August transfer window when he becomes a free agent.
Asavela Mbekile and Travis Graham:
Both these players will become free agents on June 30 this year, with sources revealing that City have been monitoring their respective situations.
Lorenzo Gordinho, Bevan Fransman, Wayne Arendse:
These three centre backs have been discussed as potential replacements for the outgoing Robyn Johannes.
The out-of-favour Chiefs midfielder has previously been linked with a move to City.
The Orlando Pirates’ striker, who is also out of favour at his club, has had his situation monitored by the Citizens.
It remains to be seen who City will add to their roster when the upcoming transfer window opens.
