Cape Town City have set their sights on a Guinea-Bissauan winger who was previously spotted by Mamelodi Sundowns.
Toni Silva, who dons the national team jersey for Guinea-Bissau, put up an eye-catching performance during his country’s international friendly encounter against Bafana Bafana last year.
His performance caught the eye of a Sundowns scout at the time, with the Brazilians believed to have had shown interest in Silva.
However, with Sundowns’ foreign quota spots exhausted at the time, it seemed that Masandawana may have pulled out of potentially offering the 24-year-old a deal.
Although, the crew has been informed that City are believed to have begun initial discussions with the winger about potentially bringing him on board for the new 2018/19 season.
Silva, who has plied his trade in England, Portugal and Greece, is currently a free agent, with sources revealing that City might need to table an impressive personal package for the player, in case Masandawana look to revisit their interest in the winger, or other suitors show interest in bringing in him on board.
Now, it remains to be seen whether the Citizens will be successful in adding the player to their books for the new season.
