Siya sources have indicated that one of Cape Town City’s strikers has been ruled out for quite some time, although the Citizens have already made plans to bolster their attacking department.
Tashreeq Morris, who joined the Citizens in July, is believed to have picked up a knee injury in training, which could see him out of action for quite some time.
However, Benni McCarthy will not be too concerned about the lack of cover in his attacking department, as the Mother City-based club could still make another addition to their squad this week.
As reported by the Siya crew, City attempted to secure the signature of Bidvest Wits’ Fagrie Lakay, although did not have enough time to agree to a deal with the Students.
However, it has since been revealed by Siya sources that Wits have released Lakay from his contract, with indications that the young Bafana international could be heading back to the Mother City, to join up with McCarthy’s outfit.
Although, details about the player’s eligibility to still be registered to play this season is yet to revealed, indications are that there is a strong possibility that Lakay could be donning the Citizens’ colours, should the two parties agree to a deal.
