City To Push For Rantie Deal?
Cape Town City Are Keeping An Eye On Tokelo Rantie
Cape Town City’s John Comitis hasn’t said who the club’s final transfer targets are, but it is believed that they’re keeping a close eye on Bafana Bafana international, Tokelo Rantie.
It was reported last month, in December, that Genclerbirligi were looking to tie the Bafana Bafana international down on a new two contract, though at this point in time, the club has not done so.
The 27-year-old has entered into the last six months of existing deal with the Turkish side, which means that he is free to open negotiations with any interested suitors and agree to a pre-contract, and ultimately leave on a free at the end of the campaign.
Now, as reported in issue 1055 of Soccer Laduma, the Siya crew is led to believe that McCarthy – who had a good relationship with ‘TK’ during their time together at Orlando Pirates - would be keen on adding the player to his squad should the opportunity arise.
There have been reports that all is not well with Rantie in Turkey, with suggestions in the media that he has gone AWOL from the club after telling them that his grandmother was sick.
The crew will continue to keep tabs on Rantie’s situation, although if he is to leave Turkey, a move may not materialise until he is a free agent in less than six months’ time.
