Celtic Back In Training As Komphela Gets Started
Bloemfontein Celtic’s players are back in training after going on strike recently, with Steve Komphela now getting the chance to properly work with his new players.
There was an issue at the club with finances as some of the players were not being paid, and the Siya crew was informed that – out of solidarity for their teammates – the whole team had opted to stay away.
A source, speaking on condition of anonymity at the time, said, “The majority of the guys got paid on time, but some players haven’t been paid yet, so the agreement is to only return to training once the other guys get paid.”
Now though, that matter appears to have been sorted for the time being, and it has been confirmed that Komphela is now getting the chance to begin proper preparations for his first season back in the Free State following his resignation from Kaizer Chiefs.
Celtic finished 11th in the Absa Premiership last season and will be hoping that their tumultuous pre-season doesn’t affect their league campaign for 2018/19.
