Avoiding relegation on the last day of the 2018/19 season gave Black Leopards a scare, as the club is not looking to go back to the National First Division, following their hard-fought promotion to the elite league last year.
Lidoda Duvha finished the season in 13th place on the Absa Premiership log, after the team spent the better half of the campaign struggling at the bottom half of the log, due to inconsistent results.
In planning to reinforce the squad in order to avoid the repeat of what happened this past season, Leopards are keen on adding defensive players to next season’s squad, and among the players identified is Tshepo Tema, who is expected to part ways with Free State Stars.
The 30-year-old centre-back did not enjoy much game-time at Ea Lla Koto this past season under Nikola Kavazovic – the Serbian coach who was in charge of the Bethlehem outfit when the club was relegated.
“Black Leopards are keen to sign Tshepo Tema from Free State Stars. The player has been identified as a possible signing for the club,” said the source.
In other news, former AmaZulu defender Ayabulela Konqobe has also been linked with Leopards, as well as goalkeeper Samkelo Mbambo from Ea Lla Koto.
Meanwhile, Leopards are yet to appoint a new coach, with the club said to be expecting Dylan Ker back in the team for pre-season, although the Englishman confirmed that he has resigned from the club at the end of the season.
