Bidvest Wits have set their sights on a midfielder to bolster their squad for next season.
According to Siya sources, Wits made attempts to bring on board Cape Town City’s Zukile Kewuti during the final days of the transfer window, although indications are that the deal fell through between the two parties.
As reported in this week’s edition of Soccer Laduma, sources have now revealed that the Students could be looking to revisit their interest in the 24-year-old at the end of the season.
Indications are that the Students view Kewuti as a long-term replacement for Cole Alexander and Thabang Monare, who are both 30-years-of age.
Kewuti has made 24 appearances for City since being promoted in to the first-team in February 2018.
City currently have Kewuti, Mduduzi Mdantsane, Thabo Nodada, Shane Roberts, Mpho Makola, Chris David, Roland Putsche, Thato Mokeke and Abbubaker Mobara all in their midfield department.
However, despite having overflowing options in the middle of the park, it remains to be seen whether City will still be open to offers come the July/August transfer window.
