Bidvest Wits Join Kaizer Chiefs And Orlando Pirates In Castro Race
The Siya crew has been informed by a source in the know that Bidvest Wits have joined the race to land the signature of one of Mamelodi Sundowns’ strikers.
It was reported in this week’s edition of Soccer Laduma that Kaizer Chiefs have had their bid for Leonardo Castro rejected by Sundowns, with their Soweto rivals, Orlando Pirates also intensifying their interest in landing the Colombian.
The Siya crew has since been informed that Wits have joined the race to land the striker’s signature, with sources indicating that the two clubs could propose a swap deal, which will see Castro join the Braamfontein-outfit and include Phakamani Mahlambi go the opposite direction.
It was reported on Soccer Laduma previously that Sundowns have shown a keen interest in bringing Mahlambi to the Chloorkop-based club, however, sources have since revealed that the Clever Boys might put a hefty price-tag on the Bafana Bafana international’s services.
Although it has since been established that during the final hours of the window, Sundowns could propose a swap deal for Mahlambi, that could include money and the services of Castro.
Castro is in the final year of his contract with the Brazilians and at this point, it seems unlikely that the player will be extending his stay further than the 2017/18 season.
With that being said, Sundowns will want to sell Castro on a free at the end of his deal next year, June 30.
