Wits Exodus Looming As Eight Contracts Expire
While Kaizer Chiefs talk of wholesale changes at Naturena, there could also be a number of exits from Bidvest Wits as several players draw towards the end of their current deals at the club.
Take a look at eight possible Wits exits in the gallery above!
Wits finished third in the Absa Premiership this season after Gavin Hunt made sure they didn’t repeat their disastrous 2017/18 campaign, and he will now be looking to get back to winning silverware once he gets his squad settled for the upcoming season.
While Darren Keet’s pending departure has been widely publicised, and the Siya crew previously reported that Daylon Claasen was on his way out, there are also the likes of Denis Weidlich, Lehlohonolo Majoro, Vuyo Mere, Edwin Gyimah and Bantu Mzwakali who will see their contracts expire next month, and there has been no word yet about their futures.
Meanwhile, Sibusiso Kumalo’s loan spell with Wits from Mamelodi Sundowns will shortly come to an end, and indications are that they will not be looking to make the move permanent after he hardly featured during his time away from Chloorkop.
Wits usually have until May 31 to exercise the options on their players going into the new season, and it certainly looks as though there could be plenty of exits on the cards before 2019/20 gets underway.
The club previously announced the signing of pre-contracts with Prince Nxumalo, Brandon Petersen and Phathutshedzo Nange, while it is also thought that Ivan Mahangwahaya and Joseph Douhadji will join, with the Clever Boys looking to get their transfer dealings done early.
