Benni McCarthy is expected to welcome yet another player who was released by Kaizer Chiefs recently, the Siya crew has been informed.
Following the arrival of Philani Zulu at AmaZulu last week, it’s now understood that Kgotso Moleko, who played alongside him at Amakhosi, will also be joining Usuthu ahead of the start of the 2021/22 season this weekend.
Indications are that Moleko has agreed personal terms with the KwaZulu-Natal outfit and once he has passed his medicals, the club will make an announcement.
AmaZulu unveiled seven new players at a press conference last week and paraded some of them over the weekend during the KZN Premier Cup.
But the real business gets underway on Sunday for McCarthy as they welcome Cape Town City to the Moses Mabhida Stadium for the quarterfinals of the MTN8.
Moleko could be ready for that fixture given that he has been in tip top shape because Chiefs’ season stretched for much longer – Amakhosi had reached the final of the CAF Champions League final on July 17 against Al Ahly.
Although the 31-year-old did not feature, he had been in camp with coach Stuart Baxter’s men in case he was called on to start or be on the bench.
Moleko had been at Chiefs for nine years and won two league titles with the club before his contract was not renewed.
