David Zulu has been released from Baroka FC without having kicked a ball in an official match for the side.
The former Kaizer Chiefs striker has been one of the new additions for the Limpopo outfit, with his signing confirmed last month.
The 32-year-old forward was a notable absentee from coach Wedson Nyirenda’s line-up for Bakgaga during the team’s first match of the season against AmaZulu at the weekend.
“In a shock move, Baroka have parted ways with David Zulu. He had just joined the club and now he has been released,” a source told the Siya crew.
In further investigation, the Siya crew learnt that Zulu has surfaced at newly promoted National First Division side Maccabi FC, with club coach Mokete Tsotetsi confirming the player’s arrival for training with the team.
“For now, he's only training with us. He arrived yesterday,” confirmed Tsotetsi.
Baroka had earlier released Ivorian striker Armand Gnanduillet whom they signed during the off-season break but later decided to release him.
In other news relating to Limpopo-based PSL clubs, Polokwane City and Black Leopards have also gone the same route after signing and later releasing Msekeli Mvalo and Khethukuthula Zwane respectively.
