Pressure is mounting for Baroka FC head coach Wedson Nyirenda to lead the team up the PSL log standings, according to sources close to the club.
Baroka have won only once from their four matches so far this season with their 2-1 victory over Cape Town City two weeks ago.
Following last weekend’s 2-0 loss against Polokwane City in the Limpopo derby, it is said that Nyirenda has become increasingly under pressure to collect more wins for the team.
The loss against Rise and Shine was Baroka’s second of the season after the team lost their first match of the campaign which was against AmaZulu.
The team's only draw so far this season was against Kaizer Chiefs last week. Bakgaga are 10th on the log with four points from a possible 12.
“The team’s results are a concern, but he (Nyirenda) is being given the support to do well. But in football it’s the results that decide the future and success of coaches,” said the source.
The next match for Baroka will be at home against Highlands Park at the Peter Mokaba Stadium next Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Chippa United became the first PSL club to make coaching changes this season, replacing Dan Malesela with Eric Tinkler after only three matches into the new campaign.
