Bafana Stopper Jets Out To Complete Euro Switch
Bafana Bafana goalkeeper, Darren Keet, was spotted jetting out of South Africa this week, with ‘Popeye’ expected to complete a move to Belgium in the coming days.
The shot-stopper had already made it clear that he would not be penning a new deal with Bidvest Wits after three successful seasons with the Clever Boys, and his reported decision to turn down Kaizer Chiefs earlier in the year suggested that he was looking to move overseas.
Keet played a major role in Wits securing their first ever Absa Premiership title, and also won the Telkom Knockout and MTN8, and bagged a Goalkeeper of the Season award during his second spell in Mzansi, but it now appears that his career lies in the Belgian league.
The 29-year-old Capetonian is no stranger to Belgium having spent many years with KV Kortrijk before returning to South Africa in 2016, and the Siya crew has previously reported that he had been attracting interest there as well as from other clubs in Europe.
While the goalkeeper’s new employers are unknown at this point in time, Siya sources have suggested that a move could be finalised before the end of this week as he takes the next step in his career overseas.
