Zungu’s New Contract Offer Revealed…
Bongani Zungu will undergo surgery next month after damaging his ACL playing for Amiens, and will not play again in 2018, however his club is still looking to hand him a new deal.
The Siya crew reported recently that, after refusing to sell him in the transfer window, the Ligue 1 club was looking to reward the 25-year-old with a new contract at the club after a season of impressive performances in 2017/18.
Having withdrawn from the Bafana Bafana squad due to the injury, the Siya crew has been informed that Zungu will go under the knife next month before beginning the long recovery process, but it is thought that contract talks could continue during that time.
The club confirmed the current talks on their official website recently, saying, “The club wishes to express its confidence to Bongani, and is currently negotiating an extension of (the) contract with him.”
As reported in this week’s issue of Soccer Laduma, Siya sources have suggested that it is a one-year extension on his current deal (which only ends in 2021) as well as improved financial terms that are on the table, with Amiens eager to keep their star midfielder.
Zungu will be eager to see his international teammates put on a show this weekend as they try to take one step closer to the 2019 African Cup of Nations with a victory over Libya.
