Contract talks could potentially force Ayabulela Konqobe out of Chippa United in this transfer window, according to sources in the know.
News reaching the Siya crew is that the defender has been in contract talks with the Port Elizabeth outfit.
Having joined the Chilli Boys prior to the start of last season after a successful season with Thanda Royal Zulu, the centre-back was seen as one of the marquee signings at the Eastern Cape club.
As confirmed, after agreeing to a deal with the Chippa, the former Ajax Cape Town player signed a three-year deal with the club.
An indication from sources close to the player and Chippa is that the club has been considering re-visiting the player’s deal, with a view of amending some of the details in the contract including his financial terms.
“The player has been waiting on the club to make a decision. It remains unclear at this stage what the outcome will be. It is true there is an issue regarding the contract and things like that. The boy is in Port Elizabeth as I am speaking to you,” said the source.
As earlier reported by the Siya crew, Chippa have also been in contract talks with striker Lerato Manzini regarding an extension on his current deal.
